Combating Quarantine - Part II
April 15, 2020
Howdy partners! CASH the Mascot here again! I’m here to give you a few more helpful hints for staying busy while you are continuing your quarantine!
How many people out there love art and history, but can’t scratch your itch because you are stuck inside? I HAVE A SOLUTION! And you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your couch! Famous art museums around the world are offering virtual tours of their facilities and their paintings! You can take a tour of the Van Gough Museum in Amsterdam, or ‘walk’ around the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, or look around the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. And if this still doesn’t satisfy your creative needs, New York’s Metropolitan Opera will be offering free digital shows every night! Amazing!! Just go to this link here, and you can find all the museums around the world offering tours: https://www.travelandleisure.com/attractions/museums-galleries/museums-with-virtual-tours.
GET YOUR SWEAT ON!
So I’m sure many of you fitness gurus are stressing over the closed gyms and fitness classes. But I’m here to tell you that you can get a nice sweaty glisten going from the comfort of your home! Planet Fitness is currently offering FREE online workouts sessions for anyone who wants to tune in. Just go to their site and you’ll be able to find everything you need! The Peleton mobile app also has a wonderful variety of home workouts you can do that require no equipment! They’re also currently running a promotion where you can use their app for 90 days FREE!! So no excuses for being a couch potato while quarantining!
Where are all my party people?!? Boy, do I have some good news for you. Netflix is offering something called “Netflix Party” that lets you connect with all your friends so you can get together and have a movie night! All you have to do is go to their site and create your own Netflix Party, then pick the movie or show you want to watch, and send the URL it generates for you out to all your friends! Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy! I might have to do one of these myself so we can all watch The Pursuit of Happiness with Will Smith and cry happy tears together! Or maybe Bird Box, with Sandra Bullock, and get our hearts pumping with some thrilling action! (https://www.netflixparty.com)
How many of you have grandmothers or parents who get upset with you for not calling them, but they never call you themselves? Yep! ME TOO! LOL. Even though we are all practicing social distancing and some of us are away from our loved ones, we have the capabilities to stay in touch and that is a wonderful thing! How excited would your grandmother or father be for you to randomly call her/him and FaceTime and talk with them for a while? We can utilize the surplus time we have at home to reconnect with old friends, reach out to old acquaintances, or simply just call your grandmother a few more times a week than normal. Small gestures such as these can mean a lot when people feel isolated and alone during quarantining. So pick up your phone, or maybe write a letter to someone special! You can without a doubt make someone's day even though you can’t physically be present with them!
Well, I hope you found these extra tips to bring you, even more, amusement and entertainment while you are quarantining from Coronavirus. If you tried any of these tips and found them fun or helpful, please let me know! I’d love to hear your stories or other strategies I haven’t mentioned to help us while we are quarantining!
